Lavis Contracting Co. Limited started building roads in 1938 and has been growing ever since, with three generations of family ownership providing the values up on which it has been built. In 2012 Lavis became a subsidiary of The Miller Group and in 2018 it joined the Colas Canada family.

Our expertise and values have created a team delivering Road Building, Cold In-Place Recycling (CIR), Hot Mix Asphalt Paving, Construction, Ready Mix Concrete services, and Aggregate resources.

Road Building

Lavis Contracting Co. Limited provides extensive development and construction services in Southwestern Ontario, including earthwork, grading, road construction, and paving.

Cold In-Place Recycling (CIR)

Cold In-Place Recycling (CIR) provides municipalities with a low-cost alternative to traditional resurfacing of distressed road surfaces. Our award-winning custom-designed CIR recycling plant combines all aspects of Cold In-Place Recycling – crushing, screening and mixing of aggregates in a single working unit. This unit has the capacity of performing the CIR process with an emulsified or foamed rejuvenating additive. The Lavis CIR train is capable of achieving 350 tonnes of production an hour and up to three lane kilometers of quality finished road surface per day, at a typical depth of 100mm. With capacity of over 150 lane kilometres of production per year, Lavis stakes is as an industry leader in CIR technology.

Hot Mix Asphalt Paving

Our asphalt plant is a 300t/hr Gencor Drum Plant with 3 – 200t silos, allowing us to provide spec material for the largest of paving jobs. Our customers include the Federal Government, the Province of Ontario, various municipalities and counties, and the private sector.

Construction

We provide general contracting and construction services for both municipal and private sector projects including highways, bridges, harbors, airports, and large parking infrastructure for major shopping centers. Our work is supported with a full range of design, engineering, costing, and estimating services that guarantee the best possible quality at a competitive price.

Ready Mix Concrete

We own and operate Concrete plants servicing Stratford, Perth, and Huron counties, supplying concrete to the residential, agricultural, industrial, and commercial markets. We offer concrete and grout mixes, ranging from 0.4 MPa unshrinkable fill to 50 MPa high performance concrete.

Aggregate Resources

At Lavis we use wise resource management practices in the operation of over 20 aggregate sites supplying our construction projects locally in the Huron, Perth, South Bruce, and North Middlesex regions. These select sand and gravel deposits yield coarse and fine products that meet and exceed the Ontario Provincial Standards and Specifications for both Superpave and Marshall hot mix asphalt and concrete. We operate a fleet of robust crushing and ancillary processing equipment that can service all crushing, screening, and stockpiling needs and our certified laboratory provides quality assurance of all products both as they are being produced and in their final form as either asphalt or concrete.
